What Is An Apprentice?

An apprentice is a worker who learns a craft through planned, supervised work on the job in conjunction with receiving planned and related technical instruction. Apprentices are taught the proper use, care and safe handling of the tools and equipment used in connection with their work. Furthermore, while working on the job and acquiring an important skill, an apprentice is a regular part of the work force. Apprentices are required to pursue a course of study or enroll in classroom instruction in subjects related to the trade to complement on the job training.
